Happy Holiday and hunting!

Witch’s Quarry has been promoted to a premium series at Mangamagazine.net!

Yay!  What a great way to kick off 2013!  My new years resolution is to draw and write comics non-stop this year.  The wonderful staff at Mangamagazine has offered my series a promotion and I have decided to take the leap and make Mangamagazine the main hosting site for Witch’s Quarry.  What does this mean exactly?  Besides lots more witch-filled, awkward, adventures to come of course!

I’ll cut straight to the heart of the matter.  Premium comics are subject to subscription walls.  This means readers do have to subscribe to read the most current content.  However, everyone will still have access to completely FREE content at a slower rate.  Proceeds of the subscriptions help to pay the creators compensation for their comics and allow them to dedicate more time to pumping pages out faster.  I did debate with this idea for awhile and ultimately decided to accept the promotion because I highly believe in the quality, content, and integrity of the other premium comics and creators.  For $2.99 a month, subscribers are given access to ALL premium content and help to support ALL of us.  For those of you that cannot pay for a subscription, Mangamagazine offers some quick, easy ways to get FREE subscriptions.  Read about it here: http://www.mangamagazine.net/promotions

This opportunity is allowing me to go back to updating Witch’s Quarry 4-5 times a week.  Along with another major project kicking off in 2013, I am finally taking the plunge to quit my retail job and devote myself to comic projects full time this year.  Smackjeeves will still host the full archive of released comic works of 2012 and will be updated at a slower 1-2 pages a week.  I hope you will continue to read, enjoy and support Witch’s Quarry.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.  And have a totally kick ass 2013.  Here’s to another year of chasing dreams ;) Let’s never give up!

Season’s Greetings!

First of all I wanted to thank everyone who for took the time to write me a few thoughts on Witch’s Quarry. This month has been difficult to muster any creative energy, (Nov/Dec is terribly demoralizing when you work retail) and these notes were a life line for me. I was originally planning to draw a couple names to send the bookmarks to, but seeing there was 7 participants, I’m pretty sure I can swing the shipping on that. I’m sending them each a bookmark!

Thank you for those of you who supported Witch’s Quarry at Mangamagazine! results from Manga Magazine donation pool for November is $62 (I rounded up XP) So there will be an extra page update this Wednesday.

I’ll try to think another giveaway for Jan/Feb so if you have any ideas let me know. <3

Lastly, I am really hoping that things will finally be going through with Off*beat and at the beginning of the year I’ll be able to make an official announcement.  I am still holding off until I get things in writing, (and rather thankful that I have since it’s been pain painstakingly delayed on the paper work)  but I swear I will make a post about it as soon as I can.

Just a reminder guys that I’m giving away my art nouveau inspired bookmarks!  Not very many people entered so chances of winning are very high!

Again all you need to do is enter is send me an email to wulfmune@gmail.com

I designed some bookmarks to give as an additional thanks to those who have supported my comic through donations.  They are hand laminated, cut and signed by me, so there may be some small imperfections.  It’s not much I know…just a small gesture…but still I feel super compelled to show my deep gratitude for their generosity!

When did I start to truly dread the “holiday season”?  Not sure when exactly all the fun got completely sucked out of it to be replaced with stress, obligations and financial crisis.  Probably when I became an adult.  I get really depressed and tired about this time of year.    I can’t wait for February/March already ):  I’m not so much a Grinch because I hate happiness, joy and fun.  I just don’t have the time and money.  And that sucks :/

Anyways to my fellow retail workers, here’s to another Black Friday…another six weeks of the Christmas jingle loops, to no requested days off allowed, and can’t you stay a little later and come in a little earlier??  Here’s to hoping customers remember to treat us with common human dignity. Cheers~!

I have gone through a few different versions of how I wanted the “sword of light” depicted in my comic.  It works okay for the most part I think (special effects are soooo not my forte ): ) every now and then whether it be a prop, or a sound effect, or a word balloon, I end up having to cover up more than I wanted. phooey ):

Anyways! Thanks again for supporting my comics. I will continue to dream and strive towards a future when I can enjoy the winter months again!

Hey Guys,

So Witch’s Quarry has been featured on Mangamagazine.net!  The staff has been very friendly and cool!
There is little monetary compensation, given based on reader traffic, so if you’d like to show your support the comic there, I’d be forever grateful.
Any proceeds I receive will go towards my extra page donation pool.

Who knows?  With enough readership, I might be able to make premium membership, quit my retail job and publish monthly chapters again.  One can always dream ^_~

Again thanks so much for following Witch’s Quarry, where ever you may choose to read it!  Also if you could help me spread the word and perhaps reblogging this, I’d be very grateful.

Mangamagazine will be updated on Mon, Fri and sometimes Wed.
SmackJeeves will be updated Tues, Thurs and sometimes Wed.

And here’s a sneak peek pic of Ser Fuzzy- I mean Sir Jethry ;) and his epic blue chest hair!

First of all I’d really like to thank everyone for the support they have given my artwork and stories.  I’m really very honored and flattered that some readers have donated towards supporting Witch’s Quarry.  It was much more than I could have expected, and it really lifts my spirits to give me affirmation in my work.  I also thank those who have been actively following the story through it’s highs and lows.  The readership and feedback has been so inspirational, I feel pretty spoiled sometimes!  I know I mentioned before that I need to cut back.  Which, unfortunately I still need to do, but I am waiting some more for my contracted work to get situated so this gives me a little extra leeway to gradually work towards getting that first book print ready.

I’ve started working on coloring some of my earlier pages.  I’ve wanted to do this for a long time just to have some consistency.  It’s interesting being forced to take a good long look at my earlier pages.  It feels kind of nice being able to edit the artwork a bit.  One thing I’m not able to do with printed works. Unfortunately, I’ll never stop looking back at old artwork and finding things I’d like to change.  But then again, I guess that’s really fortunate, because I’m really looking forward to continually improving my craft.  It’s such a slow process to maturing my style, and sometimes I get really lost in my short comings and frustration.  I just have to keep remembering the large picture and looking back at my old stuff to remember all the steps that bring my journey to where I am now.  And keep putting one foot in front of the other.

So I have been waiting to make some pretty big decisions and changes in my life.  I hope to finally have some “official” news in November but I can’t say for certain.  I will let you guys know as soon as I can though…believe me I cannot WAIT to finally have some peace of mind about all this and where my projects are going.  Maybe even get a good night’s sleep!

I will give a little heads up that November will be a change in Witch’s Quarry’s production schedule.  As much as I’d love to keep going the pace that I am, it’s just not good for me to continuously drop 60-70 hours a week into it, on top of my retail job.  I can no longer justify the amount of time I’m putting into free content=hobby with my spouse.  (Pages have been dragging into longer production times and I can’t tell if it’s because I’m trying to take feedback in consideration and improve, or I’m just fighting horrible sloppiness and inability to draw damn shapes.  like freaking circles.  wtf.)  I’ve been experiencing a lot of disappointing feelings that I keep trying to shove away but ultimately I think I need to learn to relax a bit.  I need to focus more on taking care and supporting both myself and those around me.

It seemed the original plan was to cut back to one page a week, but the thought of 4 pages a month seriously makes me want to both cry and stab things, so I’m going to try to negotiate 2 pages a week.  Hopefully I’ll have more details soon.  ): and good news.  **sob**

I told myself 2012 was going to be THE YEAR back in January.  I will make it THE YEAR.  I’m going to keep fighting for it…with every pencil, ink, PS crash and gimpy circle.

anyway Happy Halloween.  I hope you’re not experiencing a terrible storm.  because Halloween is still my favorite time of year :3  I was hoping to draw something in honor of it, but instead here is derpy looking SDs of Witch’s Quarry.

So I had the absolutely impossible time trying to pick a grand prize winner for the original character creation contest.  The more and more I tried to envision a short 3-5 page comic based on one of the characters, the more attached I started to become.  I decided that I wanted to give them all a bit more of a place in the story, rather than just some character slapped in the background of a scene.  So I’ve come up with what I hope is a happy solution for all.

Sir Caledin and Sir Malin will be representing houses Elgus and Daelan.  The southerners and drifters, Daphne, Shamsher, Istah, Juuen, Klopas will be representing “The Segregates”, sub-faction in the south. Due to the nature of the characters, their roles/appearance will not be in the comic for sometime.  I will be taking liberties to “flesh them out” in a manner that I see fit for the story.

So as a gift to all the participants, I made full colored versions of the designs I plan on using in the comic.  I hope this is an acceptable way to show my appreciation for now.  I apologize for altering my “prizes” but I could never have imagined that I would get so torn between such great submissions.

If you’d like to see larger versions of the individual characters, I’ll be uploading them to my Deviantart.  I’ll also be sending large res versions and avatars to the participants.  Thanks again ;_; <3<3<3
