Anyone miss Veolynn? ;) How I missed torturing drawing/writing him/her.

Oh man I am rocking out these pages. I’m super excited for book 2. whoot whoot.
I feel like the story and characters are finally starting to come to where I envisioned them. My technique is still the same but I keep adding more layers. My computer is starting to protest XD!!
I am a huge fan/sucker for songs that talk about storytelling/storytellers. This nightwish song has been inspiring me lately (though I don’t really think the music video visuals match my interpretation of the lyrics.). Like…omg. THAT is what I want to be. A story weaver that makes memories for people to dream about. OMG friggin gawd. Just typing that makes me want to cry and I feel the tears coming to the front of my eyes. Stories=magic. I always wanted to be a wizard. *sob*
To copy + paste from my DA journal cuz I’m lazy.
So I’m pretty much finished the first major installment of Witch’s Quarry chapters 1-6 and 177 pages. whee.
The second book script needs a lot of work, and I have a few short character prequel stories fleshed out that I’d like to do while I work on refining book 2.
Since I try not to be biased with my characters, I’m curious to see if you have any preference to which character’s story is explored a bit. These are all prequel tales, and are neither necessary to the current story, neither do they spoil things in the current plot. They just would grant a bit of insight. Please vote!!
and if you haven’t read Witch’s Quarry, it’s updated daily at

Or you can vote here in a comment if you don’t use DA.
choices are
1. Sworn to Light: The tale of how little Veolynn decided to become a knight.
2. The Psi Alchemist: A glimpse into Lady Deia’s life as a “turned” selkoi.
3. Rogue X Knight: How Wesyng and Deshad first met and why Wesyng agreed to take Deshad’s place.
and here’s a totally unrelated panel. because I got excited about FINALLY being able to draw and color Deshad and then realizing. Doh. He’s the same as Wesyng. booooring! XD!

Witch’s Quarry is now on chapter 4 and page 88. Oh and it’s in COLOR. check it out!
I’m going out to the post office this morning to ship out the prizes to the winners of Free Comic Day Give Away.
Congratulations to

Sorry for the simplicity of the drawings, but I am pretty darn swamped these days! I wanted to get these out ASAP when I finally got everyone’s mailing information. You get the original inked line drawing with my love and thanks!

I’ve been paying more attention to online comics these days. I was living in rock apparently. I had no idea there was so many serious artists doing webcomic format these days. I think it’s awesome and exciting.
One thing that strikes me is how short our attention span is. This has become really apparent to me since I started looking into putting my comics online. When people read print, there was a filtration process that provides a bit of quality control. Online comics, anything goes, which ends up being like youtube. Many aspiring creators showing their “tits” for attention, if you allow me a crude analogy. It feels like most of the WARNING contains SEX, violence, GAY SEX, ect is more advertisement then warning?? See Smackjeeves forum thread about BL “label”.
Which brings me to my semi-related thoughts on warnings and whether or not they are considered spoilers. I think I have been am overly cautious about my warnings with Off*beat. No more! Parents, if you want your children to be live in a shielded homogeneously safe world of your own careful grooming, don’t let them online. Period. If you’re a person with a mentally frail sense of self that is offended by anyone and anything that doesn’t agree with your sensibilities, don’t go online. Period.
I keep ranting off into spoiler territory when I talk about Off*beat (yet another post I’m saving in my drafts!), so I’m going to talk about this is relation to WQ instead. In many ways, I think WQ deserves a warning more then O*B. It’s starting out slow now, but there’s more mature humor to come. I don’t want to label any of it as such though, because I don’t want people WAITING for it to happen. It happens when it’s appropriate for the story. I don’t want to come out and say, warning!! this comic has a plethora of GLBT!! Because that’s not what it’s about and I don’t want people WAITING for the GLBT and guessing which characters are going to be what, because it doesn’t DEFINE the character. I’m not treating it like a fetish, and I will be tasteful and hide naughty bits with strategic angles and what not. So if anyone ends up getting offended, either they can grow thicker skin, hide under a rock or they can read it as a STORY instead of a “GLBT story”.
Don’t worry Vanessa, I promise there is no body swapping! ^_~

Today my online comic, Witch’s Quarry is up to page 33.
My mind isn’t fully awake. I didn’t have a very good rest last night. Woke up too early and can rarely fall back asleep. I have a longer day at my retail job today. We have a big truck coming in. I could use the exercise. Before my legs atrophy. It will almost be a nice break, except that I am in an exciting place in all my projects right now. I need more hours in a day~!
Probably won’t be able to do much art though, since my most productive hours are before 3:00 pm.
Doodle of my WQ characters dressed as school girls. Even though they are both way too old XP.
